Rainbow Valentines

Yesterday we highlighted some toddler Valentines crafts here.

My 4-year old daughter and I delved into some tried & true easy crafting for this holiday.

First up are the Crayon Hearts -- just grab an assortment of those pesky broken crayons from the bottom of all your craft bins. (I especially save restaurant crayons for this craft). Quickly score each label with a paring knife, break crayons into small pieces and put inside muffin tins or I always use silicone ice trays found at dollar stores.

Place the tray in your preheated oven at 275. Bake for 10 minutes. Check to see if all have melted and increase by 2-minute increments. (I found the cheap restaurant crayons did not melt uniformly). Carefully remove from the oven and allow to cool.

Carefully pop out of the molds or muffin tins.

And TA-DA -- crayon hearts. We'll attach them to cards for her preschool friends.
